Clarkston High School Sport photography of the football captains. The team putting the program together wanted to feature the nine senior captains of the football team and asked if I would do some shots. Always glad to help local sport, I agreed. We shot the seniors in the football jerseys against a white backdrop with simple directional light. I got them looking all mean, tough and menacing. This is the group of athletes that lead Clarkston to their second state championship in three years, quite an accomplishment.
I know some of the seniors used the images for their senior sport photography open house banners. Some made high school senior prints for Mom and Grandma.
I am in conversation again with the program team to do not only the football seniors, but possibly all the fall sports program seniors. Looking forward to nice images of Clarkston’s finest.
High school senior sport photography of a Clarkston soccer player. I met this student and his Dad at the football and soccer stadium for some posed and action shots. Dad tossed balls up for headers and scissor kicks and the student had a workout with all the shots we did. We chose to shoot late in the evening, starting right at sunset and letting the sky get darker, adding some off camera flash for dramatic sport action shots. The student used one of the scissor kick shots as a large banner for his open house. I suspect the banner will end up in his California college dorm room.
This student also want to study marine biology, so we came up with the idea to put him a business suit and have him walk in a local lake. We also had him ride a jet ski in a shirt and tie a make a series of big splashes and waves. We later did some simple outdoor portraits in a friend’s backyard at their Waterford lake house.
After we did the yearbook shot, we had him put his varsity jacket on and did some simple studio portraits.
These shots are examples of extreme location lighting that can be used on athletic fields. Jon and Anthony are track and football athletes. They both run the 100, 200 and ling jump. Jason plays just about every position in baseball, for this shoot we had him at shortstop.
